Background
ACC Accreditation Services provides its customers with access to the Accreditation Tools. Customers use the Accreditation tools to achieve accredition. Staff need access to the Accreditation Tools and Cordis in order to review customers for accreditation.
Problem
Security access to the Accreditation Tools and Cordis needed to be improved before Single Sign On (SSO) would be implented in the future. Users needed to be notified their password would be expiring and once it had expired. A new page needed to be designed to complete changing passwords.
Solutions
Notifications that the user's password would be and had expired were designed.
Enhancements were added from what was used in the original change password page inside the tool:
- The user was given the ability to show/hide the password to see what they were typing
- Green and red text was used to identify if requirement conditions were met
- Notification if caps lock key was enabled
Research
I began researching online examples of best practices and layouts for password changes as well as notification messages. These best practices would be used to provide a better user expierence when changing a password.
Sketches
I created several sketches for the change password reminder, password expired and change password pop-ups. After looking over the designs I chose a few to make into wireframes.
Wireframes
I created several wireframes to see some examples of different layouts. I then showed the Business Line my wireframes to get feedback. It was decided to go with the design in number 5 which is like the newly created ACD error messages for consistency.
Final Designs
The final designs included a change password reminder and password has expired notifications. The change password screen included condition requirements that were highlighted if they were or were not met. Notifications were given if caps lock was on and if the user submitted the wrong current password. The user was also given the ability to show/hide the password while typing.
